Batting Cage Directions

Bogota Golf and Batting Center
30 Cross Street
Bogota, New Jersey 07603
Telephone: (201) 489-2400

Hours of Operation:  Open 7 days, 6:00 AM - 12 Midnight for batting cages.

Notes:  There is no air conditioning in Summer.  Batting cage # 7 has a nice, flat batter's box area; good for training your batting eye properly.  The other batting cage batter's box areas slope strongly down toward the pitching machine.  This is good for ball return but this is not good for training your batting eye because you are in effect stepping into a hole when you stride while batting and it makes you pop-up at the cage.  If you train your eye to compensate for that condition, then you may find yourself topping the ball when you are on a level playing field surface. It is recommended that you use only batting cage # 7 for slow-pitch softball.  The staff seems willing to adjust the pitching machines for a high arc, on request, but they may not be willing to do that unless you are going to use the cage for a good amount of time.

Directions:  From the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, New Jersey, take Route 4 East about 3 miles passing Bloomingdales on your left, to the River Road exit and turn Right onto the exit ramp. At the end of the exit ramp, bear left to River Road. Turn Right onto River Road and proceed South on River Road about 1.9 miles to Cross Street, on your right. Make a right onto Cross Street. Cross St is only 1 block long. You can't miss Bogota Golf and Batting Center.

Hours of Operation: Call them for hours of operation.

Notes:  Lyndhurst SportsPlex, formerly All Pro Academy, is under new management. They have batting cages for softball and hardball. They also have netted-off throwing lanes for pitching or infield practice on a astroturf surface. Call them for the current use rates.

Directions:  Stuyvesant Avenue crosses above Route 3 but you have to go on one of the two parallel service roads to access Stuyvesant.  You can take Route 17 South from the Garden State Plaza Mall to just before you get to the Route 3 West exit.  Look for the sign at the just prior exit that says, "service road" and take that right exit.  At the exit ramp Y, bear left and follow the sign that says "Service Road." Proceed straight through the stop sign and then bear right onto the service road that goes West and parallel to Route 3 West.  That will be "Marginal Road."  Continue on Marginal Road about 1 mile and turn left onto Park Avenue.  The street sign is missing at the Marginal Road, Park Ave intersection but you will recognize that intersection by the presence of a big sign, "Leaving Rutherford."  Go about 100 yards, over Route 3, on Park, and there will be a Y in Park Ave.  Bear Left at the Y onto Stuyvensant Ave. Go about 1/3 of a mile on Stuyvesant to All Pro Acadamy, on your left.  There is free on-street parking available.

Hours of Operation:  M-F 2:00pm-9:00pm, Sat 9:30am-5:00pm, Sun in Winter only beginning in October: 9:00am-5:00pm.

Notes:  Lefty's has only one batting cage for slow pitch softball and other cages for fast pitch softball and for hardball. There are about a dozen netted-off areas for pitching or infield practice that can be used to keep in shape over the Winter.

Directions:  From the Garden State Plaza mall, take Route 17 South to Route 3 West. Go about 3 1/4 miles on Route 3 West to the Bloomfield Avenue Exit. Go onto the Bloomfield exit ramp and make a right onto Bloomfield Ave and proceed about 1/2 mile on Bloomfield Avenue to Lefty's.

Hours of Operation:  M-F 12:00pm-10:00pm, Sat 9:00am-10:00pm, Sun 9:00am-9:00pm.

Note: The Strike Zone batting cage section of Citi Sports has been closed for renovations for quite a while. Call first before going there.

Directions:  Go about 5.5 miles East from the Garden State Plaza Mall on Route 4 East. The entrance to Citi Sports is located on your right on Route 4 East, just before the bp gas station. There is a Citi Sports sign at the entrance to the parking lot but the sign is partially hidden by a telephone pole.

Bergen Batting Center
3 New Bridge Road
River Edge, New Jersey 07661
Telephone: (201) 525-1888
Hours of Operation:  M–F 11:00am–9:00pm, Sat 10:00am–9:00pm, Sun 10:00am–8:00pm.

Notes:  Bergen has a well stocked shop with softball and baseball bats, gloves and equipment you might not find elsewhere.  Maybe it's just me but I don't like to bat at Bergen very often because the batter's box areas are slanted slightly down toward the pitching machines so the balls always roll back to the machine.  The problem with that is that you are training your batting eye to always be stepping into a hole so to speak as you stride. Bergen Batting has a room available with tables and chairs setup for kid's parties or team meetings.

Directions:  Take Route 4 East from the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus and go about 2.5 miles to the Hackensack Avenue exit (just before Riverside Square Mall). Go under the overpass and make the right jughandle turn onto Hackensack Avenue, going North.  It is about 2 long blocks to Bergen Batting (on your left) but you cannot make a left turn there.  Get in the left lane and go passed Bergen Batting and go around to your right as Hackensack Avenue becomes New Bridge Road and bends around to the right.  Go over the Hackensack River bridge to the first traffic light at River Road.  Just after the traffic light, make a U turn from the left lane and proceed back the way you came on New Bridge Road about 1/2 mile to Bergen Batting Center now on your right.
